How do I know all of my direct mail was actually sent out?
Every time we deliver a mailing to the post office we fill out a form called the 3602. When the post office accepts the bulk mailing, they require that this form be filled out. It shows the time the mail was delivered, the date that it was delivered, the exact postage amount, and the exact number of pieces that were mailed. We keep these forms on file to protect ourselves. All you have to do is ask, and we will make you a copy.
How do I know you won’t sell my mailing list to someone else?
First of all we would never do that. All lists that we sell come from commercial list vendors. But to protect yourself, you should always seed your list with fake names. For instance you can put your cousin Jim Johnson as Mike Johnson and let him know that if he receives any mail addressed to Mike Johnson that he should call you and let you know. This is a good way for you to protect yourself and your valuable mailing list.
How long does it take to get a direct mail project mailed out?
Depending on your volume, your mail could be processed and out in as little as two days. With printing and mailing our turnaround time is usually a week to 10 days. More complex jobs could take a little longer.
What size direct mail jobs do you accept for processing?
We take jobs from 1,000 pieces all the way up to 250,000 pieces with no problems. Jobs that are larger than that should probably be broken up between several mailing companies.
How many inserts can be put into an envelope on your inserting machine?
We can insert up to 6 inserts on our machine. Check out our direct mail inserting page for more details.
Do you do manual direct mail work also?
Yes, we do all kinds of different manual work. Here is the link to the manual work page.
Do you still use mailing labels?
Only when we have to. Most of the time we’ll inkjet directly on the mail piece. This looks much nicer than a label and you get cheaper rates from the post office because we apply a bar code to the mail piece.
Can’t I just do the direct mailing myself or have my staff do it?
You can but usually the postage savings alone will pay for the mailing services that we provide. The post office has a lot more regulations now. Trays must be sleeved and strapped. The tray labels must be bar-coded. An average mailing of 5000 pieces can require as much as 5 large postal cages (450 LBS. each empty) or four pallets. This is because each tray is sent to its final destination zip code. We are constantly buying more equipment and software to keep up with the new postal regulations.
How much is the average cost for bulk mail postage?
Third class postage usually runs between 17 and 23 cents per piece. First-class postage runs between 27 and 33 cents per piece. These figures are based on letter size mail. For more info, check out our bulk mail postage rates page.
